The 2020 Ford GT Supercar

The Ford GT supercar just got a superpower upgrade. For 2020, the Ford GT amped up its engine power — 660 horsepower — and improved its cooling. These upgrades are largely due to Ford's continuous technological innovation, especially GT's 3.5-liter EcoBoost twin-turbo V6. Let's take look.

Superpower
The 2020 Ford GT remains the peak of Ford performance thanks to the GT's EcoBoost engine, which for 2020 features:

  • broader torque band and revised engine calibration
  • mechanical upgrades, including: gallery-cooled pistons and higher-energy ignition coils

Improved Cooling
To preserve peak power for the most demanding track sessions, the 2020 Ford GT includes additional engine cooling and airflow updates, such as:

  • new buttress air ducts which increase air flow by 50 percent
  • larger intercoolers to keep charge air temperatures cooler

Handling
To enhance handling and body control, the 2020 Ford GT will see an increase in suspension dampening when in track mode. This upgrade proves particularly beneficial on high-speed, closed-course circuits.

Titanium Exhaust
Now standard equipment on the Ford GT is the premium Akrapovi? titanium exhaust. When compared to earlier systems, this new exhaust knocks 9-lbs off the total weight and produces an unmistakable roar from its undeniably powerful EcoBoost engine.

Liquid Carbon Edition
The 2020 Ford GT flies as a lightweight sculpted carbon fiber body GT completely devoid of exterior paint. This limited-edition GT's exposed carbon body is a manufacturing and craftsmanship achievement, and features:

  • standard carbon fiber wheels
  • choice of titanium lugnuts, six-point racing harness anchors, five interior options and five caliper colors
  • available through two over-the-top stripe options:
    • dual center stripes offered on the standard Ford GT, or
    • single stripe found on the Carbon Series
  • optional painted mirror caps

Stripes and mirror caps are available in all seven of the GT's standard paint colors as well as the extended color palette. And, these features can be ordered as a pair or independently.

The Finishing Touches
For 2020, Ford has also updated the GT's iconic design to include a new black pinstripe to separate the familiar blue and orange colors. Plus, the optional carbon fiber number switches from 9 to 6 to match the historic back-to-back winning car, chassis No. 1075.
