All You Need to Know: The 2020 Ford Explorer

America's all-time best-selling SUV returns with a more powerful, more capable, and more tech-savvy model than ever before. Is the 2020 Ford Explorer the best Ford SUV ever? Let's take a look.

Lighter, Leaner, Stronger
Redesigned from the ground up, the 2020 Ford Explorer is lighter, leaner, and stronger thanks to Ford's flexible new rear-wheel-drive architecture.

Improved Off-Road Capability
Due in part to its intelligent four-wheel drive and an available new Terrain Management System, drivers of the 2020 Explorer will experience a better off-road experience. The Ford Explorer's Terrain Management System includes four easy-to-engage drive modes covering seven common driving conditions: Standard, Mud/Rut, Sand, and Snow/Gravel/Grass.

Plus, the 2020 Ford Explorer provides a variety of powertrain offerings including a 3.0-liter turbocharged EcoBoost V6 capable of producing 365 horsepower and 380 lb.-ft. of torque using 93-octane gas, which make this Explorer the most powerful Explorer ever. Explorers with the 3.0-liter EcoBoost can tow up to 5,600 pounds and Explorers outfitted with the 2.3-liter EcoBoost and Class III Trailer Tow Package can tow up to 5,300 pounds. Got a boat you want to tow?

More Tech for the Whole Family
