There's a certain tiered structure when it comes to pickup trucks. Picture a pyramid where at the base there are the non-Ford models, then up a level in the middle are the Ford pickups trucks, and then at the top of the pyramid there's the Ford Super Duty, a pickup truck so powerful it's in a league of its own.

Now, to go even further, at the top of the pyramid's there's the 2020 Ford Super Duty pickup, a pickup truck so, so powerful it not only raised the bar for what it means to be a pickup truck it raised the bar for what it means to be Super Duty. The 2020 Ford Super Duty pickup truck has got us excited because it offers next-level capability, next-level power, and next-level technology. Let's review.

Next-Level Capability
The 2020 F-Series Super Duty offers its highest-ever conventional, gooseneck and fifth-wheel towing and payload ratings. Whether towing heavy trailers, boats, or repairing infrastructure, drivers of the 2020 Super Duty will enjoy unparalleled towing capability.

The 2020 Super Duty's all-new 10-speed TorqShift automatic transmission is available across all three engine offerings and features a wider gear ratio specifically designed for the harshest towing conditions. For optimal performance, the electronically controlled transmission offers several selectable drive modes—normal, tow/haul, eco, slippery, and deep sand and snow.

Next-Level Power
The 2020 Super Duty is the most powerful Super Duty ever and comes available with two new engine options—the all-new advanced 7.3-liter gasoline V8 and the upgraded third-generation 6.7-liter Power Stroke® diesel V8—that are paired with all-new heavy-duty 10-speed TorqShift® automatic transmission.

As the only manufacture to design and build all of its heavy-duty engine and transmission combinations, Ford ensures its Super Duty powertrains work perfectly with all its chassis components and vehicle calibrations. Ford anticipates its 7.3-liter engine will be the most powerful gas V8 in its class. It will provide durability, ease of maintenance, and the type of towing and payload capability Super Duty drivers need, want, and have only ever dreamed of.

In addition to the Super Duty's new engine options is the Super Duty's standard 6.2-liter gas V8, which offers proven heavy-duty capability at a reasonable price.

Next-Level Technology
The new F-Series Super Duty now offers class-exclusive Pro Trailer Backup Assist, while its Trailer Reverse Guidance is now compatible with fifth-wheel and gooseneck trailers. Pro Trailer Backup Assist makes it easier than ever to navigate the largest trailers into the tightest spaces. Drivers simply steer the trailer into position using the Pro Trailer Backup Assist knob, not the steering wheel. The Trailer Reverse Guidance system works by showing trailer angle and direction, and providing steering suggestions to most efficiently move a trailer backward.

Included on all new 2020 Super Duty models is FordPass Connect embedded 4G LTD modem with WiFi access. Capable of accommodating up to 10 devices, FordPass Connects allows everyone on board to stay fully connected and remain in communication wherever the job leads them.

Available safety features include lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring, and pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking. These features improve the safety of the drive and vastly improve a driver's ability to navigate tight and/or crowded areas when towing to avoid collisions. All of these features are standard on XLT and above Super Duty models.

The all-new 2020 F-Series Super Duty will start shipping to dealers this fall and when it arrives it will be the most tested pickup in Ford history. The 2017 Super Duty endured 12 million miles of testing and for 2020 that number was increased by 7 million miles. This Super Duty was rigorously tested to ensure it is more than ready to endure the most extreme towing conditions.
