Safety Comes Standard in the 2019 Ford Transit Connect

When Ford revealed its 2019 Transit Connect Cargo Van, we were kind of in awe to see the significant steps Ford has taken to enhance Transit Connect safety. In fact, the Transit Connect has the most driver-assist technologies in its segment, and most of these driver-assist technologies are standard across all models.

What Ford has done is gone ahead and taken the best-selling compact cargo van in America and turned it into one of the safest vehicles on the road. To give you an idea of what we’re talking about, check out these standard Transit Connect driver assist technologies.

Automatic Emergency Braking
This features helps detect potential collisions by using radar to monitor the speed of the vehicle in front of you. When the emergency braking system detects the possibility of a collision, it will automatically apply the brakes. The Transit Connect is the only vehicle in its segment to offer this technology as a standard feature across all models.

Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection
This safety feature also uses radar to help prevent collisions by detecting vehicles and pedestrians who may cross in front of your vehicle’s path.

Side Wind Stabilization
If you’ve ever driven through an area with high winds you know how stressful it can be when you’re in a light high profile vehicle. Thankfully, the Ford Transit Connect includes a side wind stabilizing system that uses sensors to detect strong gusts. If gusts are detected the system will apply the brakes on one side of the van to help keep you upright and in your lane.

Rear View Camera
Ubiquitous now on new cars and trucks, the rear view camera helps when backing out of or into a tight parking spot or busy street. These things can be particularly challenging in a van but through the eyes of a camera lens you’re able to get a clear view of your surroundings before backing up.

Mobile Friendly
Operating or working for a mobile business includes a lot of time on the road and a lot of mobile phone communication. Taking the mobile nature of mobile-work into consideration the Transit Connect includes an embedded 4G LTE modem — the only one in its segment — that provides WiFi for up to 10 devices.

This programmable ignition key gives you the capability of setting preset warnings for vehicle speed and to limit the entertainment system’s audio to 45% of maximum volume.

In addition to the aforementioned standard features, the following features are a few of our favorite available driver-assist technologies: Blind Spot Information System with Crosstraffic Alert, Lane Keeping Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, and a 6.5-inch floating touch screen running SYNC® 3 that helps you keep your eyes on the road as you field client calls and messages.

The Ford Transit Connect’s compact size improves efficiency and maneuverability, and now its standard driver-assist technologies improve passenger safety and productivity.
